Underworld Series Chapter 18

Nodin was standing in the balcony of his castle, looking at the Sun ahead and a military formation below. He had made the life hell for all the drug cartels of the region. That very day, all of them decided to avenge their miseries. Nodin was deep in thoughts, dreaming about the human race emerging victorious from the battle of ignorance, crime, narrow mindedness, and vices. “ What if all of them give up their narrow self interests and work towards the progress of the nature.” Nodin sighed at his own limitations. He took up a cause which he himself never fully understood but he was sure that he did the right thing. The mystery of the nature not only make us humble but also nudge us to explore the unexplored. “ We have stopped thinking of as one. We belong to the same stock. The whole universe, its galaxies, stars, planets, forms of life, biotic and abiotic factors, we all belong to the same thing. We all are one only. The sectarian, regional,racial, spatial and national identities have proliferated at the cost of unity. The results of which are that we believe in the narrow world we live in. We think and act through our brains which hold no boundaries but our identities live under boundaries. Ultimately, we are foolishly destroying the life in the name of protection of immaterial aspects of our lives which matters only when everything in the universe remain natural.” Nodin’s eyes flashed with a rage, a rage which implied he was there but helpless.

Drey: “ The forces have gathered down there. They can attack anytime. We have caught a few of their spies. They have also been trying to penetrate our cyber defence. We have chaffed their attack. As of now, their cyber personnel are trailing a diversion but they will return any time. Our power has been cut off from the underground fibres. The hybrid hydrogen-nuke reactor has been turned on but we must take control of the underground power supply soon. Their cyber junkies elevated their attack on the ring fences of the reactor. Though, a suprise breach is off the table yet they may manage to breach the other systems if they keep elevating their attacks. They are attacking both, system infra and reactor so that they may gain access to one of the systems. Our missile defence system is ready to defend all kinds of incoming missiles. All of their missiles and drones have already been locked to the defence radar. For offensive posture, we have our nano-carts ready. They are as tiny as suspended particles of air but each one is as destructive as 11 TNT of dynamite. Their combined forces might be able to breach outer defence walls. They might even come close to the castle but they cannot proceed further. Their combined strength will weigh the scales on their side but only in the beginning. What do you suggest, Nodin?”

Nodin: “ Even though the different warlords have come together yet they don’t know each other very well. We shouldn’t counter force with a force. All of them can become our assets only when they are alive. No weapons, no bloodshed. We have sent five units for recce, no? Contact the men in charge and tell them to mingle with the forces. Our men must create suspicions among these warring bands. Tell them to play one with the others. We have been using cyber chaff to trail them away at blindspot, right? Now, tell our cybermen to use the chaff to route the attacks to the others. Instead of a blindspot, from which they can return to haunt us, we must route the trail to give access to the cyber defence of one among their own. “

The luck was on their side that day. Everything went as was planned. The recce units mingled with the forces and spread the word that one of the warlord had shifted allegiance with Nodin. Moreover, the cyber trails led them to each other’s cyber security systems and they destroyed the automated launches. With only manual launches in hand, the commanders of armies of the warlords were commanded to launch missiles all at once. Here too, the recce units sown the seeds of suspicions by taking altering the timings. They even started a couple of petty fights to breach the discipline. As a result of which, all the missiles couldn’t be launched at same time. This further eroded the confidence of the warlords. Now, each was dreaming of taking the castle on one’s own and that made it very easy for Nodin to capture them alive.
