The Living Myth

The Living Myth
We are born not just with a body but also with a group of people who are already living a particular style. We call it culture. We are the living manifestations of it. Ofcourse, it was that noble a thing in the beginning. But, my apology, things have changed. I won’t judge them as good or bad, this early. But yeah, they have changed a lot. The changed started with the visible aspect of our personality, called as a race.
There were some racial differences between the early settlers with the natives. The natives were materially superior but didn’t know the ways to exploit the resources. Perhaps they never wanted to. The settlers came looking for resources. They found them plentiful here. They drove the natives out to some hinterlands.
Later on, the invaders multiplied in number and filled with ambitions. They wanted to seize hold of a land so productive as ours. They knew that they couldn’t drive all the inhabitants away, whatsoever. Henceforth, they wanted to win over the native socially. They had already tried the militant way and came to know that this way had its own limits. Moreover, their superior technical knowledge and belief in their civilization had already made them haughty and proud. They used to look down upon the natives as inferiors. Their racial and cognitive arrogance started interfering in lives of the natives. The social divisions had been born then. The racially superior called themselves, “Aryans”, while the inferior ones were called, “ Dasyus”. The innocent Dasyus believed in the fabricated truths espused by the settlers. Some of the natives submitted themselves to the superior ones. The seed of subjugation had been sown then. The Aryans learnt by now that the innocent natives could be manipulated to the extent that they could be made to work for them. The era of manipulation gave rise to a reign of subjugation. Hundreds of lies were exchanged, transmitted and delivered so as to win the Dasyus. The Aryans legitimised the subjugation of the latter by the. Why wouldn’t they? It was the least expensive way of exploiting the resources, without any bloodshed. But it wasn’t that easy. To live in your own lie is very risky. You have to immerse yourself in the lie, and to make it a success, you have to forget the truth, you have to forget your own shelf. The Aryans did it. They succeeded in devising and living the lies.
One of the lie was the Caste System. Whatever basis it was given to make it look legit, it was a scam, it was a lie. The clock was set in reverse. The lies got multiplied with each generation and one caste became thousands. Lie is a canvass with a huge appetite. Howsoever you try to paint it, there is always demand to paint more. Lie paints it own lie and the painting gets bigger and complex, but forever incomplete. Anyway, the thousands castes created thousands of distinct identities. Among thousands of caste, only distinction could hold legitimacy. Thousands of castes with thousands of identities and millions of rules, seems like a bunch of entangled threads of different colours. When these many identities live together, some skirmishes and blame games are bound to happen. And they did happen.
Moreover, these scores of castes were not enough that this land saw a new wave of people from different nationalities and religions. But the thing is that this had been the norm of this planet. There had been migrations since the apperance of Homo sapiens on this earth. Migration was the only way to survive then. The same way, many waves of migrations enriched the culture of our land. I am talking about minorities now. They hold their own identity just like any other do. They have jumped into the great game of entangled threads. The clashes were bound to happen. Clashes happened, people learnt the lessons and new rules were devised to give them a rank beside the other subjugated ones. Many of them didn’t like to live like this. The superior ones wanted the new entrants to behave their ways. The land was becoming congested. Skirmishes became frequent and oppression became severe. The newer identities were beaten to the extent of rupture but they could not be wiped out. The newer identities fought for their place and with this, has started an eternal war which we call communalism today. The superior ones has assumed it wrongly that their time has come. They want to take the place they have always enjoyed. The power which comes with such irrational way of life is unfathomable. They want to the gods again. And this is not going to happen. They know it and that’s why so much frustration is pouring out on the streets. The wicked when come to know that they are losing the battle, try to behave as shamelessly as they can.
